I’m working at Xpan Interactive as a web developer and building upon my training in new media. Most of my time right now is spent on E-learning projects.
I’m a graduate of the NMPD program at SAIT. I discovered a passion for building websites using CSS while I was in school.
Xpan Interactive is my first opportunity working in web development, after finishing the NMPD program at SAIT. I know there are plenty of experienced professionals out there so I’m grateful for the opportunity I have right now to learn and grow in my second major career in life.
In my previous career I was a newspaper photographer. I finished off that career while I was in Taiwan. Once you decide that you aren’t happy doing something anymore it’s time for a change.
Horse1Asia
Horse1Asia is a literal translation of my Chinese name, Ma I-ya. No, I don't speak or write Chinese. Pretty sad isn’t it? Well I can’t say my parents didn’t try to teach me. I guess I was stubborn when I was young.
I picked Horse1Asia as the domain for my website/blog because I thought it would be unique and nobody in their right mind would pick someting like, Horse1Asia, I thought.
My Website
My website is a place for me to experiment and share the knowledge I’ve learned in web development and design. During my late career change from photographer to web developer, there were always people gracious enough to share their knowledge and skills and that’s the philosophy I’ll be building my website around.
Over time my website has evolved from using tables built in Dreamweaver to using XHTML/ CSS and the WordPress blogging engine.
